Today was Spring Cleaning in Desirae's room. Grandma H has been wanting pictures of our house, and it's not easy, cause the house is never as tidy as I would hope for. So, this is the perfect time to take pictures. It'll probably look like this for 15 minutes or so, and then it will be life as usual.

This is the table and chairs we got off Craig's List this spring. David sanded and painted them to look like new. The set is quite old, but I'm sure it will hold up better than the set Desi recieved for Christmas. We found out that "wood" can mean pressed cardboard! The set was returned and I started searching Craig's list for something made from real wood.
In this picture is a cradle that a sweet lady gave to Desirae while we were at her yard sale. We've come to rely on the kindness of strangers, whom I refer to as "Angels" today. The bedspread and pictures are all from Goodwill, my favorite place to shop.

The dark dresser in the middle was mine as a child. Oops, there's some clothes peeking out of a drawer. We can never be perfect! The Tiki girls are from Desirae's Uncle Barry.
And this is what I had to have! I loved playing kitchen when I was small. I saw this set at Costco and fell in love with the pink retro look. I'm not sure how I'm going to part with it when Desirae out grows it!

Now, we'll see how this turns out for a first blog. It was a bit of a challenge, but I think I got it!

  3. I just slipped back in time to your room I loved your room with the fun ceiling, the cast iron register, and the vanity! I also loved your Grma H.'s house with the little kitchenette and the little dishes. oh my. Maybe you won't have to get rid of Desi's pink stuff, in a few short your Nick could supply you with little reasons.

  4. I gave up my vanity. It's in MN at Grandma H's. LOL...my memories of that room----it was YELLOW. I hated yellow. And it was COLD in the winter. Yeah, good memories of Grama H's and that little kitchen, she still has.
